Data Processing Addendum

Schools, children’s homes and other settings trust Behaviour Smart to process personal information about children, young people and staff. Protecting that information is fundamental to how we design, operate and improve our services.
The Behaviour Smart Trust Centre brings together clear information about how we protect personal data, secure our platform and manage the technology partners that help us provide our services. It is designed to support data protection officers, school and setting leaders, procurement teams and others responsible for assessing the services their organisation uses.
Behaviour Smart is provided by Behaviour Smart Ltd, company number 12846336, and is part of Team Teach.
How we protect information
The Trust Centre provides information about:
- Data protection: how personal data is collected, processed, protected and managed.
- Platform security: the technical and organisational measures used to protect the Behaviour Smart platform.
- Hosting and international transfers: where data is hosted and how any transfers outside the UK are protected.
- Artificial intelligence: how AI is used within Behaviour Smart, what information may be processed and the controls available to customers.
- Sub-processors: the third-party technology providers that support the delivery of Behaviour Smart.
- Data retention and deletion: how long information is retained and what happens to customer data when a contract ends.
- Security certifications and assurance: the standards, certifications and independent assessments supporting our security approach.
Understanding our respective responsibilities
When customers use Behaviour Smart to process pupil, staff or service-user information, the customer ordinarily acts as the data controller and Behaviour Smart acts as the data processor. As data controller, the customer determines why personal data is processed, the lawful basis for processing it and how Behaviour Smart should be used within its organisation. As data processor, Behaviour Smart processes customer data in accordance with the customer’s instructions and the terms of our Data Processing Addendum. We are responsible for maintaining appropriate security measures, managing our authorised sub-processors and supporting customers in meeting their data-protection obligations.
Legal and data-protection documents
This Privacy Notice has been written to inform prospective or current customers of Behaviour Smart about how and why we process your personal data. We will only collect and use your personal data in ways that are compliant with the applicable data protection legislation.
Behaviour Smart Data Processing Addendum
This Addendum and its Data Processing Schedule reflects the arrangements between the Parties for Processing of the Personal Data by the Provider on behalf of the Customer, in connection with the provision of services under the Agreement.
Behaviour Smart Data Protection Policy
This policy is to ensure that Behaviour Smart complies with the requirements of the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 in addition to associated guidance and Codes of Practice issued under the legislation.

These are the Terms and Conditions governing the use of this Service and the agreement that operates between You and the Company. These Terms and Conditions set out the rights and obligations of all users regarding the use of the Service.

Behaviour Smart Information Security Policy
The Information Security Policy outlines Behaviour Smart’s organisational security
processes and standards. The policy is based on the sixth principle of the UK GDPR which
states organisations must protect the personal data, which it processes, against
unauthorised loss by implementing appropriate technical and organisational measures.
